I am spending, what I believe to be, my first ever Christmas Eve alone. Had all things gone as planned, I would be in Concord, MA with family, celebrating what can only be described as a "very concord christmas" replete with silver bells, stockings hung by the fireplace (with care) and caroling. It is the most lovely and warm incarnation of a classic New England Christmas. But feeling under the weather, I stayed behind while husband and son sallied forth. Alone I am with toast and a nice chenin blanc. I won't make a habit of this, but I am appreciating the holiday quiet and the time to think and plan (if only in my heart) for the coming year. Happy Christmas dear readers. xo
